INDICATORS FOR LOAD AND TORQUE 2

Essential Interface Indicators for Load Cells and Torque Transducers

May 23, 2024/in Blog /by Jamie Glass

Interface continues to expand our line of instrumentation solutions. One of the top instrumentation choices is sensor indicators, valuable instruments for measuring force, torque, and weight with high precision. They convert the minute voltage difference generated by a load cell into a clear, readable format.

Interface’s indicators come in various configurations to suit various testing needs. They include load cell indicators, torque transducer indicators, and multi-axis sensor indicators. These indicators cater to different testing environments, connectivity needs, and sensors. When pairing your instrument with a specific sensor, we recommend requesting a system-level calibration to ensure optimal performance.

We offer indicator form factors, including handheld, panel-mounted, benchtop, and rack-mounted, for portability or permanent installations. Data transfer options include traditional wired or modern wireless connectivity for increased flexibility. To protect the instrument, enclosures are available that withstand harsh environments for reliable operation anywhere. Form options include:

  • Portable Indicators: Ideal for field testing or tight spaces, offering portability and real-time data capture.
  • Digital Indicators: Provide clear and accurate digital displays for easy reading.
  • Wireless Indicators: Transmit data wirelessly for untethered operation and improved efficiency.
  • Multichannel Indicators: Connect to multiple load cells simultaneously and display individual or combined readings.
  • Programmable Indicators: Offer advanced features for customized testing procedures.

TIP:  Use the Interface Instrumentation Selection Guide to review different indicators.

Interface Indicator Key Features and Benefits

  • Stable Excitation Voltage: Ensures consistent and reliable force measurement.
  • Digital Display: Presents force measurements in a clear and easy-to-understand format.
  • Output Options: Analog or digital outputs for versatility in data acquisition systems.
  • Filtering: Reduces unwanted noise for improved data accuracy.
  • Peak and Valley Monitoring: Tracks and records minimum and maximum force readings.
  • Set-Point Outputs: Trigger alarms or control processes based on pre-defined force thresholds.
  • Multi-Channel Connectivity: Connect to multiple load cells for comprehensive force measurement in complex setups.

New and Most Popular Indicator Solutions

9325 Portable Sensor Display

The 9325 allows simple display of strain-bridge-based measurements, such as load cells, torque transducers, and other mV/V-output transducers, with sensitivity up to +/-1 V/V. Up to six calibration ranges are available, allowing for different loading modes (tension and compression) or different sensors. Each calibration range will retain settings that contribute to the user experience, such as selected units and tare values. TEDS devices using templates 33, 40, and 41 can be connected and will update the viewed calibration. There is also a 9325-NU portable option.

9330 Battery-Powered High-Speed Data Logging Indicator

Model 9330 is a bipolar display, logging, and amplifier that can be used in portable or desktop applications. This instrument has an integrated bridge completion for 120 Ohm, 350 Ohm, and 1000 Ohm strain gauges, as well as active sensors with a 0…10V output signal. The measuring rate can be set up to 3750 Hz. Data can be saved to an SD Card at 1000 Hz or directly to the PC at 3750 Hz. This device also stores up to 6 sensor calibrations.

9812 Panel Mount Display for Single mV/V Transducer

The 9812 is our most popular 1/8 DIN load cell input panel meter due to its high precision and stability. The digital indicator uses a modular construction approach, allowing you to configure it with the required functionality. This flexible approach ensures that you only pay for the features you need. It is ideal for measuring weight, torque, strain, pressure, and stress.
